The danger is heat and aggression, not the paint
Stripping a toy is not hard because the paint is stubborn. It is hard because the surface underneath is easy to ruin. Dry, aggressive blasting builds heat in a thin panel, and heat is what makes metal expand, ripple, and warp, so a hood, a tank, or a boat panel can come out of a careless strip permanently distorted. Media that is too hard gouges soft surfaces, and a boat's gel coat, an aluminium hull, or a fibreglass panel will pit or burn under the wrong approach. The paint comes off readily. The skill is taking it off without harming what it was covering.

No-heat: how a controlled process avoids the warp
The answer to warping is to never generate the heat in the first place. A controlled, water-assisted process keeps the temperature down while the media does the work, and matching a softer media to a delicate surface strips the finish without the impact that distorts a panel. Boats and gel coat: the delicate case
A boat is the most demanding toy to strip. Below the waterline, layers of old bottom paint and antifouling have to come off without cutting into the gel coat beneath, and an oxidised or chalky hull needs cleaning without gouging. Soft media at a controlled pressure, soda in particular, lifts bottom paint and cleans a hull while sparing the gel coat, and it prepares the surface for the barrier coat or antifouling that follows. Getting this right is the difference between a hull that is ready to refinish and one that has been damaged in the stripping.
Aluminium: sleds, boats, trailers, and hulls
A great deal of what we restore is aluminium, and aluminium has its own rules. It is soft, it warps and pits more easily than steel, and it should not be contaminated with ferrous media that will leave it rusting later. Soft media at low pressure strips paint and corrosion off aluminium hulls, sled tunnels, and components without distorting the metal or embedding contamination, leaving a clean surface that takes a finish evenly.
Frames and the hard-to-reach parts
The frames and running gear of sleds, quads, dirt bikes, and motorcycles are exactly the kind of contoured, tubular, awkward surfaces that hand tools cannot properly reach. Prepping for the new finish
Stripping is the first half of a restoration; preparing for the finish is the second. Bare steel frames need to be clean, correctly profiled, and coated before they flash rust, whether the finish is powder coat or paint, and delicate surfaces need to be clean and ready for their barrier coat or primer.
