YOUR LOGS HAVE A GLOW. LET'S GET IT BACK.

Failing stain, UV grey, and mill glaze — stripped gently with corn cob and walnut shell media. No harsh sanding. No chemicals in your soil. Just clean, open wood grain, ready for new stain.

The problem

ALBERTA SUN IS BEAUTIFUL. IT'S ALSO EATING YOUR STAIN.

Every log home in Alberta fights the same battle: UV breaks down stain, moisture creeps behind it, and within a few seasons the finish is peeling, blotchy, and grey. Sanding rounds off your log profiles and takes forever. Chemical strippers soak your landscaping. Pressure washing alone drives water into the wood.

Gentle media blasting is the kindest fix. We use biodegradable corn cob and walnut shell — organic media soft enough to preserve wood grain and chinking, but thorough enough to lift every trace of failed stain and mill glaze. What's left is bare, breathing wood with an evenly opened surface that takes new stain uniformly — so your re-finish lasts years longer.

Full stain strip

Complete removal of failing or dark-layered stain systems from log walls, beams, and trusses — corners and checks included.

UV grey & mill glaze removal

Opens weathered grey surfaces and factory mill glaze so new oil or film-forming stains absorb evenly instead of flaking.

Chinking-safe process

Media and pressure matched to protect chinking and sealant lines — no gouging, no fuzzing, no rounded profiles.

Canadian Log Market Specialists

PRESERVING THE GRAIN.

Log homes are a massive investment. Traditional sandblasting destroys the soft wood grain, leaving a pitted, "fuzzy" finish that ruins the aesthetic.

We use organic media (Crushed Walnut / Corn Cob) to gently strip failing stain and UV mill glaze without eroding the wood itself.

  • Lodges & Resorts: Large scale restoration with minimal guest disruption.
  • Timber Frame: Precision cleaning for intricate joinery and beams.
  • No Water Damage: Dry or ultra-low moisture options for sensitive wood.

ORGANIC MEDIA

Biodegradable corn & walnut shells absorb coatings rather than cutting the substrate.

GRAIN PRESERVATION

Eliminates pitting and wood fuzzing, leaving the natural substrate profile intact and smooth.

STAIN-READY SURFACE

A completely dry process means zero waiting time for moisture evaporation. You can begin coating immediately.

Questions

WHAT LOG HOME OWNERS ASK US.

Will blasting damage my logs?

No — that's why we use corn cob and walnut shell instead of sand or glass on wood. Organic media absorbs the coating rather than cutting the substrate, so log profiles, checks, and chinking stay intact. We tune pressure on a test patch before doing the full home.

How is this better than sanding or chemical stripping?

Sanding rounds log profiles, misses checks and corners, and takes weeks. Chemical strippers run off into your soil and often need neutralizing washes that soak the wood. Media blasting strips every contour evenly in days, with dry, biodegradable media we sweep up and remove.

How long does a typical log home take?

Most Alberta log homes take one to three days depending on size and how many stain layers are failing. You'll get a firm timeline with your estimate — and we hold it, whether we're handing the surface back to you or rolling straight into the re-stain ourselves.

Do you also apply the new stain?

Yes — we offer the complete restoration: strip, prep, and the new stain and finish, all by one crew. Because we prepped the surface ourselves, we know exactly when it's ready to coat, and your warranty conversation stays with one company. Prefer to use your own stain crew? That's fine too — we'll hand over a perfectly prepped surface.

Barns & heritage

WE DO BARNS TOO. PRAIRIE HISTORY, HANDLED GENTLY.

That classic red barn has survived a hundred Alberta winters — it deserves better than a grinder or a pressure washer driving water into old boards. Our organic media strips decades of paint and weathering without damaging the siding, even on thin, irreplaceable heritage wood. Barns, granaries, homesteads, and historic outbuildings — restored to their former glory and ready to seal, repaint, or stand proudly natural.
